Unlock Codes, Clips & Software

Unlock codes Many
GSM mobile phones are sold "locked"

to a specific network or networks. Most often it is Pay As You Go
phones that are locked, but sometimes Pay Monthly mobiles are locked
too. It is possible to obtain unlock codes for mobile phones so that
they can be used with a sim card from another network. The phone networks
will do this for you (at a price!), but you can do it cheaper online
using an phone unlocking service, or you can buy a special unlocking
clip or unlocking software. Once your phone has been unlocked, you
can then use it with any network, provided that you have a valid SIM
card.

The
easiest way to unlock your phone is by obtaining an unlock code
that you can then enter into your mobile yourself. There are a number
of companies offering unlock codes for mobile phones on the web,
and they are quite a lot cheaper than going to your dealer or network,
provided that you have a compatible phone.

The
way it works is like this: you need to find out the 15-digit IMEI
number on your mobile (type *#06# into your phone to do this. NOTE
- CODES ENTERED AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR
DAMAGE TO PHONES.) You then supply this number to the unlocking
company, and they will give you a code that you can enter into your
phone to unlock it. Some companies will do this by email or over
the phone, which is more convenient than having to wait for the
unlock code in the post.

Data cables
& software

If your
phone is not compatible with a remote unlocking service, it may be
possible to calculate a code using a data cable and some special software.
This method works with most Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic,
Siemens and Samsung GSM cell phones. You can buy a data cable and
unlock software online.

Unlock clips,
cables & software

You can
also buy unlock clips that generate unclock codes for mobile phones
via a connecting cable. The software in the clip will automatically
unlock your phone. The benefit of using an unlocking clip is that
you can use it to unlock as many phones as you like!

How To Unlock Your BlackBerry For Free

I know that there are a lot of GSM BlackBerry users out there that want to use their BlackBerry on antother network, however, don’t want to pay to get an unlock code so that they can do so.
Well, some good Samaritan has posted the process of unlocking your BlackBerry for free via your carrier to wikiHow and the 13 steps that it takes appear to be pretty easy and straight forward.
I didn”t have access to a GSM BlackBerry at the time of this posting so I cannot vouch for the process, so, if you decided to try it out, and it works or doesn’t work, please leave us a comment and let us know how you made out.

BlackBerry Unlock Software - Free Software or Shareware

Most cell phones are locked, meaning that the phone is tied to a certain carrier's cellular service. To use that phone with another carrier, you need to unlock it. Unlocking your phone can be risky business -- doing so may void any warranty you have, and can irreparably harm your phone.
Still, plenty of people are interested in unlocking their cell phones. If it works, unlocking your phone gives you more freedom in how you use it. You may be able to make cheaper calls, install new software, and simply do more with your phone when it's unlocked.
Listed below are some software programs designed to help you unlock your BlackBerry phone. Note that I have not tried any of these apps and cannot vouch for their performance. And it's worth noting, once more, that unlocking your phone can severely damage it.
* Mobile Phone Unlocking Solutions: Links to a variety of applications for unlocking BlackBerry and other GSM cell phones.
* Universal Simlock Remover: Third-party software designed to unlock a variety of mobile phones.

* UnlockingBlackBerry.com: An online service that provides remote unlocking of BlackBerry phones.
Buying an unlocked phone can be a safer (though more expensive) alternative to unlocking a phone yourself. For more information, read my complete guide to buying and using an unlocked phone.

How to unlock the BlackBerry Pearl and enter Blackberry Unlock Codes

One of our editors recently wrote a very popular article on How to Unlock any Nokia phone absolutely free. I recently got the latest Blackberry Pearl cell phone and absolutely love it. I might be travelling overseas for couple of weeks and I definitely don’t want to be stuck paying the international calling charges to T-Mobile. So, I started looking around the internet and on IRC forums to see if there is a free way to do it. Most of the places charge in excess of $65 US for unlocking the blackberry pearl. I have outlined four options for you, one of which unlocks your BlackBerry Pearl cell phone absolutely free.
the phone unlockers logoOption # 1: The Phone Unlockers
These guys can unlock pretty much most BlackBerry phone/network combination.
In order to unlock the Blackberry phone, you first choose the make and model from their list along with the IMEI number and the network to which your Blackberry phone is locked to.  To find out the IMEI number, dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad. They also allow for international unlocking where the unlocking is not limited to just United States.
You then choose the payment option. They price very aggressively and charge less that $30 for unlock services. They accept most credit card and debit cards like most of the unlock services, but the best part I found was the ability to pay by PayPal. PayPal gives me a secure payment option without revealing my credit card number to someone else and also gives me the fraud protection. So, props to these guys for ability to take PayPal payment.

The best part, they email you the unlock code in under 3 minutes and they give a 100% guarantee that their unlock code would work for your BlackBerry! Sounds like a good deal to me. The email will also contain step-by-step instructions telling you exactly how to enter the unlock code making your life as easy as possible. You can visit the Phone Unlockers here.
GSM phone source logoOption # 2: GSM Phone Source
These guys provide you with remote unlocking of the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 and also the BlackBerry Pearl 8700g.
How it works is pretty simple. You pay for the unlocking service, and when you submit your order, you must include the IMEI number for the Blackberry you are unlocking in the notes section when you are making the Paypal payment. The IMEI Number can be obtained when you enter *#06# from your phone’s keypad, it will display a 15 digit number ( If you have trouble obtaining the IMEI this way you can also find the IMEI number in the Status menu ). Once your order is processed and unlock code is ready, you will be emailed with an unlock code and instructions on how to enter it.
Models supported, including but not limited to are the 8100, Pearl, 8700g, 5xxx Series, 6xxx Series, 7xxx Series.

You have to pay $35 for their service and the turnaround time is usually less than 24 hours. You can visit GSM Phone source here
Unlock to talk logoOption # 3: Unlock to Talk
Unlock to Talk is another good option to unlock your BlackBerry Pearl. They have over 150 satisfied customers with completed orders for unlocking their phones. You can also check the list of their customers with their BlackBerry IMEI numbers and their corresponding Unlock Codes here.
For Unlock to talk service, you end up paying $35.95. Their turnaround time is also around 1 business day or upto 48 hours.
You can visit Unlock to Talk here
Option # 4: T-Mobile or Cingular, your carrier

Yes, you can ask your carrier for an unlock code for your Blackberry and guess what, they do it for it Absolutely FREE. So, what is the catch? The only condition which at least T-Mobile imposes on its customers before it gives out the unlock codes for the Blackberry Pearl or any other cell phone is that you have to be under the contract for at least 90 days or 3 months before they can give you the unlock code. So, if you have the patience, I would recommend that you wait for this 3 month time frame before calling up 611 from your T-Mobile phone, talk to customer service and get your unlock codes.
In my search for the Blackberry Unlock codes, I found out that a lot of people mess up before they have no idea how to enter the unlock codes correctly. So, follow this method to enter your Blackberry Unlock code
